The Divine Mercy prayer group meet every Wednesday in the Oratory between 7 – 8 pm.
This group has been meeting since 1998 , formed by a few parishioners with a special devotion to the Divine Mercy. The parish priest at that time Fr. Robert Curley gave his permission and the group was formed.
Each week we pray devotional prayers of petition and thanksgiving before the Blessed Sacrament. We pray the rosary, Stations of the Cross, prayers for the dying, souls in purgatory, for priests, the sick, homeless, for the sanctity of marriage and protection of life.
We include a reading from the diary of St. Faustina, a Polish nun chosen by God to be the secretary of His Mercy. The same Saint once wrote: “At three o’clock implore my Mercy especially for sinners; and if only for a brief moment immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in my abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world… At this hour I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of me in virtue of My Passion.”
We end the hour praying the chaplet of Mercy given to St. Faustina asking for mercy for us and sinners throughout the world. In this powerful prayer we place ourselves in the presence of God’s mercy saying: “Eternal Father I offer you the Body Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son Our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of his sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world” Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal one have mercy on us and on the whole world.
We are thankful for this hour of peaceful prayer with Jesus and we welcome anyone else seeking God’s peace and mercy to join us each Wednesday.
