Pastoral Planning Teams are a key element of the strategy of the Diocese of Motherwell and are intended to bring together priest and people to reflect, discuss, plan and pray together for the building of the spiritual life of the parish. St John the Baptist’s PPT started in April 2007 and consists of five parishioners, led by Father Towey. To-date the Team has been very active in the planning and organisation of many key events in the parish and wider community. Such events include:

  • Eucharistic Adoration in parish homes
  • Establishing a Christmas Crib at Uddingston Cross
  • Establishing a Book of Remembrance for deceased family and friends of our parish community.
  • Organising Spiritual Retreats & Talks on topics such as “The Papacy”, “The Eucharist” and “Journeying with Jesus Every Day”. Guest speakers have included Father Michael Kane, Father Benny McHale and Mr Tony Hickey
  • Organising Parish Missions given by the Redemptorist Fathers and St Patrick’s Community
  • Planning the logistics to allow 660 parishioners to attend Holy Mass with Pope Benedict XVI on 16th September 2010 in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow
  • Planning the logistics and celebrations for Father Michael Kane’s Ordination Mass and Mass of Thanksgiving on 24th and 25th June 2011.
