The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is the process for accompanying adults wishing to learn more about the Catholic faith and who may also wish to become a member of the church. Weekly sessions generally run from September to May and reception into the church is ideally during the Easter Vigil in spring time, although this may vary depending on personal circumstances and readiness. Everyone is on a journey of faith but for those who are not yet full members of the Catholic Faith, RCIA provides an opportunity to develop a closer relationship with God, and to learn about His love, mercy and sacrifice for each and every one of us. The weekly RCIA sessions will support this journey of faith by way of prayer, bible readings and catechesis instruction using interactive presentations and discussions, all helping to develop a relationship with God and His church. R.C.I.A. was introduced in the parish of St John the Baptist, Uddingston in September 1991 and over the years (to 2024) has instructed and received into the church almost 90 adults. Those who have journeyed through R.C.I.A. in the past have come from many different walks of life and their ages range from “teens” to “seniors”. Be assured that EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
